The Trakehner in Eventing

Grand Prix by Swazi xx out of Goldene Au by Schwalbenflug. Again sent out from Hörstein and under the saddle of Ingrid Klimke, this bay stallion was long listed for the Barcelona Olympic Games in eventing in 1992, placed 3rd at the German National Championships in Luhmühlen and consistently placed in the top in the European eventing scene for several years before he was retired at stud in Hörstein. Grand Prix passed away in January of 2004, leaving a handful of daughters for the Trakehner breed in Germany.

Starway by Star Regent xx out of Serenade by Elfenglanz. Another Hörstein success story. Starway won the Vietor Event Cup in Germany, a prestigious prize for young event horses, again with Ingrid Klimke. He was placed at the Nationals the same year and was already winning at CIC* level when he crashed his knee while training and had to retired at the young age of 6 years. Starway founded a small, but exclusive stallion line via his son Exclusive and today is a sire for Dr. Hubertus Schmidtlein at Gestüt Heidekaten in East Germany.

Eos by EH Rockefeller out of Ecliptic by Sastor. Eos was one of Germany's leading event horses in the early 2000s, with wins and placings up to CCI*** level. Ridden by Frank Osthold, this chestnut mare was selected for the World Equestrian Games in Jerez in 2002, but due to an injury, was not able to compete.

Fontainbleau by EH Rockefeller out of Felicitas by Mahagoni. A true success story is the one of the bay approved Fontainbleau. Champion of the approvals in 1993, Fontainbleau was placed at the National Event Horse Championships, placed 7th at the World Championships for Young Event Horses is Lion d'Angers/France and moved on to compete at CCI*** level. Apart from that, he also was a very successful breeding stallion. Two approved sons and several highly graded daughters at central Verband inspections show that he can also produce the talent he showed in comeptition. In 2001, his son Kunta Kinte TSF won the National Event Horse Championships in the 6-year-old division, his full sister Karama M became reserve champion in the 5-year-old division. Very sadly, Fontainbleau passed away after an accident in 2003.

Amethyst by Amor II out of Aschenbrödel by Schabernack. Amethyst was a true cosmopolitan. This black Trakehner stallion originated in the famous Trakehner herds of the state stud in Marbach, Germany and was sold to Harry Zimmermann in Canada, where he was trained as an eventer and already celebrated several outstanding victories when he was sold to the United States. Under Darren Chiacchia, he won the CCI** Bromont and was ready to make his debut at the CCI**** level in Kentucky, when a fatal injury ended his career. He spent his last years as a beloved member of the Holkemp family at New Spring Farm where he sired a number of outstanding performance horses for all disciplines. He sadly passed away in late 2002.

Summersong by Fleetwater Opposition. This black stallion was one of France's best eventers ever, and competed up to CCI**** level. He was part of the medal winning French Team at the 1996 Olymic games in Atlanta, and later also found a way into breeding in Europe. He was ridden by Marie-Christine Duroy, and besides winning the CCI*** formated Compiege in France, he also finished 8th at the CCI**** Badminton.
