The sire
Karolinger I is a full brother to the approved Karolinger II and was initially not approved in NMS. He went on to win the stallion champion title at the approvals in Sweden the following spring, passed an excellent performance test and was then approved for Trakehners. He is the current Trakehner Dressage Champion with Peter Koch (International Bundesturnier in Hanover 2007), and was the Medingen top seller at the elite auction in 2005 (250.000€). His dam Kadenz is also dam of the 2006 approved premium stallion Krokant (by Lauries Crusador xx), who also qualified for the Bundeschampionat this summer. The Karolinger brothers are bred along the same lines as two other Latimer sons in Germany, namely the inbreeding to Caprimond by crossing Latimer with Hohenstein daughters. The other exmaples are the 2002 reserve champion Hibiskus and the 2003 approved Immenhof.
The dam
Dam Etosche is a black pinto Trakehner mare, explaining where this filly got her color from. She is a daughter of the part Polish pinto Trakehner Elvis, who is also the dam sire of the approved pinto Camaro (by Le Duc). Close inbreeding to the mare Elbana by Isotop, and also the Grand Prix dressage stallion Saint Cloud, who appears on the top and botton of this "colorful" pedigree. Dam Etoscha already had an elite foal in Neumünster, the colt El Nino in 2005, one of the top sellers opf that collection!
