The National Mare Championships

As always, Neumünster sets a highlight with the selection of the National Champion Mare out of the best 3 year old fillies of the year. The champion, reserve champion and high score mares of the inspection season throughout the year are invited and usually, around 10-15 of them show up in Neumünster. This is a pure in hand show and attracts a lot of attention.

This year's champion, the Danish bred and Dutch owned Eviva by Kaiser Wilhelm out of the former top auction mare Evita by Schwadroneur, won the Central Mare Inspection in the Rhineland this spring and is also successfuly performance tested. The judges commet was that she "is a mare with an outstanding front end, both in type and movement". Reserve Champion Mare Goodnight by Connery out of Gute Wahl by EH Benz, is bred and owned by Gestüt Hörem in Lower Saxony. Judges were deeply impressed with her impulsion and thrust from behind. Same holds true for the third placed mare, Skylight. This exceptional EH Napoleon Quatre daughter out of Serpika by EH Caprimond already carries Verband and State Premium titles. The judges commented that "if she stood an inch taller, this mare would have been the champion, her movement is unsurpassed!".

The prize for the highest placed Anglo Trakehner mare was awarded to Hörstein's SPS+PS Skylight (yes, same name!) by EH Beg xx out of SPS, PS+ES Serenade by Habicht, a full sister to the approved stallions Sky Dancer and Sky Walker. Other mares in the finals were Co Co Chanell by Peron Junior out of Cascaja by Feingeist, Sachsenkönigin by Handryk out of Souveräne by Altan II, PS+SPS Herzentraum by Tambour out of PS+SPS Herzensfreude by EH Tivano, a full sister to the champion Herzensdieb, PS+SPS Funny Hill by Summertime out of Fabienne VIII by Trocadero, PS Kujawe by Freudenfest out of Kaiserflair by Manrico, PS+SPS Virginia by Kostolany out of PS Venetia III by Guter Stern, PS+SPS In Farbe by Buddenbrock out of PS+SPS+ES Insterfee by Kennedy, and Estonia II by Connery out of PS+SPS Esprit IV by EH Benz.
