The sire
Freudenfest was champion in Neumünster in 1999, and followed his full brother Farinelli, who was proclaimed as champion in 1996. Farinelli competed at S level dressage, while Freudenfest finished his performance test, won young horse classes and then only stood at stud, but was trained to Grand Prix by his biggest admirer, Otto Langels. Freudenfest's sire Tolstoi was premium in Neumünster, and he too never competed much, but sired several approved sons and very good daughters. Tolstoi's dam Tugend is dam of the S level show jumpers Tiflis and Trenk Quattro (both by Flaneur), while her daughter Turandot IV is dam of the approved Turnus (by Zauberklang *E*) and daughter Titania is dam of the great sport horse sire Tycoon (by Donaumonarch). Freudenfest's dam line is the direct one that leads back to the major sire Flaneur, his full brother Mahdi, and the approved Falkensee (NZ and now AUS), Feingeist (CAN), Flugwind, Fasolt (ATA) and Fahnenträger II. Freudenfest is sire of the approved stallions Godot (has two sons in NMS this year), Ostpreusse and Shavalou.
The dam
Small, but very successful sport horse line in the breed. A full sister to Absolut, Agatha Christie by Showmaster, is dam of the Verband premium mare Anjana by Freudenfest. The second dam Apolonia is dam of the NMS reserve champion in 1994, Adamello (by EH Herzzauber). She also produced the advanced level eventer Aaron (by Jet Stream xx), the intermeidate level eventer Adaequat (by Jet Stream xx), and the M level dressage horses Aponti (by EH Caprimond) and Attila (by Kennedy). The third dam Akazia is dam of the international eventer Avalon (by Habicht).
