Fonteyn NW

Fonteyn NW is a beautiful upper level dressage talent, with a pedigree that also makes her highly interesting for a later breeding career. "Fifi" is the favorite in the barn for her amazing character and willingness to please and perform. She learns quickly and is attentive to the rider. Her movement is energetic and with the desired cadence, with an especially expressive canter in a wonderful uphill momentum. A mare with great talent, a wonderful "can do" attitude and last but not least, a truly beautiful type!

About the sire:
Sire Freestyle is a 1996 Westfalian premium stallion, who combines the leading dressage lines of that breed in his pedigree.
He is a son of the famous Rhinelander stallion Florestan I, who was champion of the Rhineland approvals in 1988, and in 1989 he was champion of his 100 day test in Warendorf. Florestan I has produced famous stallions as Fidermark, Florencio, Faveur, Fleurop, and Fürst Heinrich, Florestan I has taken the top position in the FN breeding values for a number of years (in dressage). Florestan I is famous for producing performance horses with very high ridebility. In 2004 two Florestan I sons won both the 5 and 6-year-old FEI World Young Horse Dressage Championships in Verden. Florestan's genetic background is comprised of very influential French Selle Francais blood via Furioso II, a major sire in the younger Oldenburg breed at the time, in combination with excellent Trakehner performance blood on the basis of a Westfalian mare family. As a performance horse, Freestyle is an accomplished Prix St. Georg stallion in North America.
Dam Paloma has produced two approved stallions: Freestyle and Flammengold, full brothers. The 4th dam Geisha is a full sister of the dam of the world famous stallion Romadour II, sire of the Olympic Gold Medallist Rembrandt with Nicole Uphoff and grandsire of the equally impressive and important dressage sire Rubinstein I. Parademarsch I, the dam sire, was one of the most important descendands of the great sport horse sire Paradox I, a son of the TB Papayer xx. Parademarsch produced sport horses for all disciplines at the highest levels, and again, also contributes with high quality Trakehner blood through his 3rd dam Cyklame by Cyrus , a son of the original Trakehner (from the Main Stud Trakehnen) Cyklon. And in the falling dam line, we further find the interesting Perlkönig I, a son of the exceptional jumper producer Perseus (by Pluchino xx - Ramzes AA). That makes Perlönig a parental half brother to the century sires Pilot and Polydor - and yet again, Perlkönig contributes with more Trakehner performance blood via Lateran, also born at the Main Stud Trakehnen.
In the regard of amoung of "special" blood (xx, AA and Trakehner) that Freestyle carries in his interesting pedigree, he was a wonderful choice to breed to a Trakehner mare for a modern performance horse. As a sire, Freestyle has impressed so far by producing a number of upper level dressage horses especially in the KWPN breed, including the Grand Prix horse Twinkler R.

About the dam:
Dam Lazara is one of the very few daughters of the interesting stallion Larazzi in the ATA book. Larazzi was approved in 1994 and stood at stud briefly, before he sold as a future Hunter and soon after, passed away. Among his very few offspsring, the gelding Caliph was an accomplished Hunter and 3rd level dressage horse. Larazzi's sire Enrico Caruso *Ps*E* needs little introduction - he is a major dressage sire for the Trakehner breed, and his son Kostolany spread his influence worldwide. Kostolany, Champion in NMS, successful up to FEI in dressage himself, produced a large number of very successful dressage horses up to the highest international levels, and his sons and even grand sons do the same (e.g. E.H. Gribaldi with his sons E.H. Hofrat and E.H. Distelzar). Kostolany is also the dam sire of the accomplished S level show jumper Hirtentanz, among others. Enrico Caruso's influence in North America is quite substantial, since he sired several popular and competitive sons (e.g. Kovington *Ps*, Incantare *Pb*, Pavarotti), and in Europe, the US-bred EC son Lord Luciano is pursuing not only an international dressage career, but is already leaving his mark as a good riding horse producer. Enrico Caruso's dam also produced the international CCI*** eventing stallion El Greco TSF, further highlighting the versatility of this family.
Larazzi's dam Lilly by the Donauwind *E*-son Blitzwind (himself an accomplished S level dressage horse in 3 different countries on two continents!) was a direct daughter of the outstanding mare Libella V *E* by Siegbert. Interestingly, Siegbert was by Garamond - the very same Garamond that produced the dam of Florestan I! So there is a very valuable line-breeding component in Fifi's pedigree. Besides Larazzi, Lilly also produced the accomplished 4th level gelding Lyricist. Libella V is dam of the ATA Exceptional mare Lavinia *Pg* (accomplished at Grand Prix dressage), her full brother Leonidas *Pg* (also accomplished at Grand Prix dressage), the mare Lavender, dam of the Inter II gelding Whiz Kid, and the mare Lilac, accomplished up to Inter II level.
The falling mare family is then of pure TB origin, and belongs to one of the biggest and most accomplished families - TB-1. There is a clear sport horse component in the immediate bloodlines, as for example, Bold Ruler xx has had significant impact on the production of upper level eventers for many years. This versatily is probably best shown with the Bold Ruler xx son Stupendous xx, who produced the TB sire Kronenkranich xx, approved in Hanover, Bavaria and for Trakehners, and sire/grand sire of the important sport horse sires Amelio/Trak, Justinian xx, and the Olympic Eventing Gold Medalist Butt's Abraxxas! In the Hanoverian and Trakehner breed, Kronenkranich xx daughters are frequently seen as the basis of highly accomplished performance horses in all disciplines. Furthermore, the Stupendous xx daughter Petroleuse xx is dam of the exceptional dressage sire Prince Thatch xx, a former Celle State Stud stallion.
