Bonaparte AA is a very special stallion in many regards. This mid-framed grey stallion successfully competes at international levels in show jumping under an amateur rider. He placed at the world’s hardest show, the Hamburg Derby in 2009 and most recently in 2012 and has added a string of over 30 wins and placings up to 1.60m classes (e.g. 3rd place Grand Prix of Holstein, S*** level). It is noteworthy that Bonaparte AA is a 1996 model, and still going strong and showing at the highest levels. He is also rated as Class I in a ercent x-ray exam and is a perfect example of why Angloarabian blood is such an important factor for longevity, stamina and soundness in modern sport horses.
His pedigree is truly outstanding, since on both sides, international potential eventing and show jumping blood is combined. Sire Benedict N AA was an international eventer and sired several successful sport horses and approved sons. He continues the family's tradition, since the foundation sire Bajar ShA - aside from Ramzes AA, was the most successful Arabian ever used in sport horse breeding.
For the Holsteiner and Trakehner breeds, he sired international competition horses up to Olympic levels, e.g. Peter Thomson’s outstanding Trakehner mare White Girl TSF (1996 Olympics, 1998 WEG Team Bronze, Badminton, Luhmühlen, 5th European Championships Achselschwang). The exceptional quality of the sire line is complimented very well by Bonaparte's dam. This pedigree shows very close line breeding to the famous mare Märchenfee xx. Her sire was a noted eventing sire in the Oldenburg breed and his dam was a maternal half sister to the exceptional eventing sire (e.g. sire of Otto Ackermann’s Voltuno, multiple international champions, e.g. World Reserve Champion Kentucky 1978, Olympic silver medalist 1080, 4th European Champinships Luhmühlen 1975 – as a 7yr old!). Since both stallions were by the legendary German TB Neckar xx, their relationships is really very close. Märchenfee xx is dam of Bouquet AA, but is also dam of Marina AA. She herself produced the Holsteiner approved international show jumper Don Caster AA (by Dorpas AA). She is also dam of Melodie AA (by Hill Anwar AA), who produced the approved Belmondo AA. His sire is Bouquet AA - and hence there is more line breeding to Märchenfee xx. Monique AA (by Benedict N AA) is also out of Marina AA, and is a premium mare for the ZSAA.
Interestingly, the amount of English TB is pretty high in this pedigree. Both dam and sire lines go back to pure English TB. Bonaparte N AA belongs to the TB-13 family (Sedbury Royal Mare), which is also represented by the excellent race horse and sire Darshaan xx, Fairway xx, Mr. Prospector xx, Seattle Slew xx and Tourbillon xx.

About the dam:
Top Ten is a registered Trakehner mare in Mare Book I of the German Trakehner Verband. She is a daughter of the CCI*** stallion El Greco TSF, who is one of the most consistent and successful eventing stallions with rider Alexa Bendtfeld. His sire Fontainbleau was the champion in Neumünster in 1993 and also competed at CCI*** level with German Olympic champion Andreas Dibowski. Fontainbleau’s sire E.H. Rockefeller competed at Grand Prix dressage and produced international sport horses for all disciplines, e.g. Frank Osthold’s CCI*** winning mare Eos.
Dam: Top Ten
El Greco's dam, the mare Elchniederung, already produced one approved son for the Trakehner breed: major sire Enrico Caruso *Ps*E*! Via his son Kostolany and the grand son E.H. Gribaldi, he was able to establish a dominant dressage dynasty. Truly, Takenoko carries the best of both worlds!
Dam sire Motley xx was a highly successful race horse in the US and Europe (GAG 100.5kg!). He also became a high quality champion sire in Europe. His offspring are especially successful over long distances and in steeple chasing, which makes Motley xx a most interesting sire for the eventing programs. Motley xx already gained some influence in the Trakehner breed. His son Refrain was approved in Neumünster and sold at auction for 90,000DM to Switzerland as a future eventer. Motley’s grand son Iffland (by E.H. Tenor out of Idea xx by Motley xx) was also approved in Neumünster (2002). Motley xx also produced several premium mares for the Trakehner breed.
He comes from the very successful male line of Turn-To xx, who is especially well received in the eventing world. Best Turn xx is also the sire of the internationally successful Hand in Glove xx, who was a race horse first, and later show jumped at FEI levels in France. He had some influence on the Trakehner breed while stationed at Gestüt Webelsgrund, and also sired the acclaimed sire Jaguar Mail in France.
The falling dam line then carries two of Europe's big names, Bertone xx and Celadon xx. Bertone xx, who raced to a handicap of 95.5kg, was from the sire line of the outstanding French producer Alizier xx, who Bertone xx is linebred to. Sigebert xx sired the black TB Maquisard xx for the Trakehner breed, who was stationed at famous Vogelsangshof and made a name for himself as an excellent sport horse sire. Third dam sire Celadon xx finally also appears as the second dam sire in the pedigree of the Olympic eventing stallion and Rolex CCI**** (Mod.) winner Windfall *Pg*.
The basis of this family is TB Family 1 (Tregonwell’s Natural Barb Mare), which is one of the biggest families in the TB world. Among its many members, the important race horses and sires Never say Die, Shirley Heights, High Chaparral, Buckpasser, My Babu, Princequillo, or Vaguely Noble represent this line.
